- I purchased the Barron 's AP United States History set of 500 flash cards to use with my adult students who are preparing for the GED exam. The flashcards come in a sturdy hinged cardboard box. Each card is numbered, with its number in the upper left corner. The cards are broken down into nine time periods. For example, Period 1 is 1491 - 1607 "Convergence of the Peoples." At the top of each flash card, it shows which of the nine time periods that the event belongs to. Another handy feature are the three Contents cards. If you are looking for a specific topic to review, the contents will show you which cards to use for most any given US History topic.
There is quite a bit of information provided on each card. On one side of the card is an event, such as "Pre-Columbian Peoples of the American Southwest." On the flip side of the card, information is presented in a bullet format. Most cards contain 3 to 5 bullets of information. At the bottom of each card, there is a "Historical Connection" section which highlights a main fact.
When I first introduced the cards to my students, we focused on just one of the bullet pieces of information at first. Then as we reviewed from the day before, I included the next bullet. The cards have been very helpful. These flash cards would be a great resource for anyone preparing for the US History regents exam or the AP US History exam. - Helped my daughter get a 5 on the exam.
- Lots of information, but for flash cards, almost too much information. However these are time savers and were helpful in reviewing U.S. history terms, people, places, and events to prepare for the APUSH exam.
- Didn't work for my son. They aren't traditional flash cards with a question on one side and answer on the other. They are just informational cards. Might be better to use throughout the year as a supplement to what is being discussed in class, but not really useful as a study aid.
- Another good purchase through , quality and service unmatchable! Comes in a sleek and comfortable box, and the flashcards are good quality, and don't bend easily. Recommend this necessity to increasing score on the exam in May.
- They do the job but I think there is too much information on each card to be truly classed as flash cards
